Due for solo
After almost two weeks of flight training... Airworks, Touch and Go's, Power-off approaches and stalls! My instructor told me that I was ready.. I took the pre solo exam two days ago. And today I finally have my permit.. I just hope for a good weather this afternoon..

"RP-C 1051 is now airborne"
It was a pretty normal day for me. Much more of a routine day, I woke up this morning thinking that it would still be the same usual routine. I took a bath and we went to OMNI for our ground school lessons. We have been spending almost 2 weeks for ground school. The first few days were fine, the problem is after ground school we dont have anything to do.. We will just hang out at SM Clark and walk around for hours. For the past week here in Clark, thats our usual routine, Apartment-Omni-SM-Apartment... It’s really boring in our apartment. No TV. No Computer. No Radio. No form of entertainment whatsoever…
Today at ground school we had Flight Planning. It was our second to the last subject... While doing our exam, Capt. Soph approached me and told me if I'd like to go for my orientation flight, since there are no schedules for the day, I decided to go for it.
at 1400H, I filed my very first flight plan. We were scheduled for a 1430 departure to the Charlie boundaries (Airspace around MT. Arayat). At around 1415, I preflighted the plane. Checking everything from tires and brakes to bolt screws and nuts on the wings. Then ofcourse i checked the fuel quantity for our flight. After the preflight inspection, I grabbed my kneeboard and my headset then Capt. Soph and I boarded the plane. He gave me some last minute briefing, then we performed the checklists. After engine start, I called Clark Tower to ask for clearance for Take off. The tower cleared me to taxi to the active runway, and I was off to my first flight.
At the runway, I ask the take off clearance from the Tower.
Ivan: "Clark tower, RP-C 1051 at runway 02 ready for take off"
Tower: "1051 Cleared for takeoff, report when airborne"
When I heard the clearance Capt. Soph gave me the signal to apply full power. So I pushed the throttle forward... The plane rolled on the runway... After a few moments... We were airborne...
"RP-C 1051 is now airborne"
The feeling was unexplainable... For several years, ive dreamed for that moment.. The moment when I will be the one flying the plane.. And I really cant believe that my dream is starting to be fulfilled...
We made a circuit around MT. Arayat... Passing the towns of Pampanga, Nueva Ecija and Bulacan. We even orbited around the town of San Ildefonso in Bulacan.. My dads home town...
After an hour and a half in the air, we entered San Fernando, Pampanga for our approach to Clark.. I contacted tower for landing instructions.. The PAL AV planes are up in the air now so we gotta watch out for traffic... We entered right BASE of 02 OMNI.. and did our landing on runway 02.. It was a soft landing although we werte too high on the approach..
It was really a fulfilling experience for me.. It was my first time to fly a plane, and this will surely be one that i will never forget. looking forward for my first solo flight!!!!! peace out.

Atlast! An update…
Its been almost 2 months since I last updated this blog.. Its not that I am too busy, its just that I am preoccupied with some other things. Maybe I am just enjoying my course.
In those 2 months, there are lots of things that happened to me
Here are some of them:..
Una, umalis na si daddy - I started to become independent, on my own na ba..
We went to our school’s resort and training grounds for new pilots in Lubang is. Mindoro for our CWTS. It was a great experience, especially when we went boating.. Nun ko lang na discover na may kadorm pala akong magaling mag swimming.. Kase siya lang ang nakaabot nung talagang ocean floor.. Anlalim nun.. Some other activities are: takutan sa room, agawang base sa swimming pool at ang pinakamatindi.. Sa loob ng tatlong araw naming stay sa Lubang eh litson ang lunch namen! (wow, highblood!) We also had a mini basketball league between the groups in CWTS, at siyempre! Kame ang champion! Hehehe.. Isa sa mga memorable experiences ko sa Lubang is on our last nyt. The dormboys were on the attic room of the resort, and nagtatakutan kame.. Until Ren, my dorm mate opened a topic about faith, which eventually led to our sharing time. It was a great experience because I got to know my dorm mates much better… It was also our first tym to ride our schools biggest aircraft.. the YS-11..
Sa school ko, aus naman ang lahat… My grades are good… At isa na ako sa mga topnotcher sa class namen.. sometimes top 1, sometimes top 2..(yabang!) owh well, nagsisipag na kasi ako ngayon.. Sa aming dorm eh ako na ang pinakamasipag.. And it paid of well.. So far, all of my prelim grades are high.. my lowest grade is 1.75 which is mataas na ren.. Pero I hope that I can maintain it, specially in our drawing class.. Ang hirap na kase ng drawing ngayon!...
Sa aming dorm, things are going great.. Actually, ang aming dorm ay naging entertainment center na.. at Tambayan ng Bayan! Kumpleto na kasi kame sa gamit dun.. May dvd, may laptop at may PS2!.. Kaya madami nang tuamatambay sa dorm namen.. pati mga Captains, Flight instructors and ground instructors.. Tumatambay narin dun… Which is a good thing kase nakikilala namen ung ibang mga pilots. Ang ayoko lang sa situation ng dorm namen ngyn eh kung sinu sino na yung pumapasok.. Minsan hindi na kakilala nung iba.. Anyways, nag uusap kame ng mga dorm boys kung pano malelessen yung ganung problema.. and our first solution is to rearrange our dorm.. iniba namen yung position ng kama… para hindi na nakakaupo yung ibang pumapasok sa kama namen.. Anyways, for those na hindi pa nakakaadd sa friendster ng dorm namen.. pa add naman!

Nga pala, may bago na kameng kasama sa dorm.. Si Capt. Allan Kim Mabutas II.. Cool yung kapitan na yun.. Mabait na, matalino pa nag graduate kasi siya as magna cumlaude and best in academics sa batch nila sa airlink.. at marunong makisama.. Kahit minsan sa kalokohan.. hehehehe!

I just came back from my dorm this morning.. School is starting to get busy.. Nagkakaron na kame ng mga assignments at mga lessons.. At sa wakas.. Nagsimula nang magsipasok ang mga ground instructor namen.. hehehe!
It was another happy week for me! Of course, my school week started on Tuesday.. Nagpunta muna ako sa QC city hall para kumuha ng NBI clearance. Grabe.. 5 ako pumila don.. tapos 9 ko na nakuha yung receipt ko.. Ang masama pa dun, may kapangalan ako.. Kaya sa June 30 ko pa makukuha yung NBI clearance ko.. Oh well, aus lang yun kasi wla pa akong balak pumunta sa ATO (Air Transportation Office) para kumuha ng Student Pilot License. 6 kase sa batch mates namen ang bumagsak sa depth and perception test sa mata.. Kaya yun.. mga excited kase… I will just have to wait for the instructions of the school before we go to ATO. Last Tuesday, nakdalaw din ako sa Montessori, at talagang malaki yung improvement nito.. Lalo na dun sa gate.. it is bigger and better! Hehehehe! Nakasama ko rin si Gabelle nung Tuesday at hinatid niya pa ako sa dorm ko.. Ang sweet naman..=)
Masaya paren ang buhay sa aming dorm.. Last Thursday nagkaron kame ng labanan.. Powder fight! Nag batuhan at nag ubusan ung nga ka dorm mates ko ng kanilang baon na polbo.. Kaya ayun.. Nag amoy polbo yung kwarto namen at namumuti.. Kaya napilitan kameng mag general cleaning nung gabing yon…
Madami pa sana akong kkwento, but I am starting to get busy.. I need to practice my Flight Simulator skills! Sim training ko na sa July 19… hehehe tagal pa.. excited na ako!

One week is done and everything is going fine. My 1st week is a lot of fun at the dorm and at the school since most of our ground instructors are absent for the week, we dont have classes and we just hang out at the dorm. Sometimes we go to SM mall of Asia but we always have a hard time getting our gate passes signed by the director because the school imposes closed-door policy especially to the dormers. But even if its like that, we still find ways to have fun. Sometimes we just eat and eat and eat…
Our favorite meryenda is Sky Flakes with matching Ladys Choice mayo spread… Hay.. Ang sarap talaga.. I think that I will gain weight there, sayang yung na exercise ko sa ab king pro.. Pero meron parin naman kameng mga physical activties tulad ng basketball gabi gabi… Buti nalang may court..
My dorm mates are friendly people. When I entered our dorm, the first guy that I saw was Amiel and Mark. Mga bagong gising sila noon. Tas naliligo sa banyo si Justin. Ang bilis ng pagiging bonded namen. After the breakfast, magkakakilala na kameng lahat at dun na nabuo ang barkadahan ng mga Dorm Boys!
The Dorm Boys:
1. Justin – Si Justin ang aming Mayor/Cabo sa dorm… Siya kasi ang pinakamalaki samen.. Ang Chinese Guy from Davao city, siya ang pinakamalayo ang bahay sa aming lahat dahil 1 hour and a half ang byahe pauwi sa kanila by plane. Astig tong Mayor namen dahil sa aming lahat, siya palang ang may experience na magpalipad ng eroplano dahil nagpalipad na siya sa Davao.
Arick – Ang special child… Sa totoo lang ay hindi namen siya ka dorm, dahil dun siya sa special dorm yung VIP room (kaya siya naging special). Etong si Arick ay isang friendly na bata.. Super friendly nga yata eh.. Halos lahat kinakausap nya.. hehehe!
Mark – Etong si Mark ay makulit talaga… Pero naging tahimik siya matapos namen siyang asarin kay Leona.. Sobrang torpe kase niya.. hehehe! Peace man
Amiel – Isa pa tong makulit si Amiel.. Isa siya sa mga mantika matulog… Kaya minsan ay 8:00 ang pasok namen eh 7:45 tulog pa siya.. oh diba! Aus noh pare! Eto rin ay loyal na loyal sa kanyang girlfriend.. parang ako! Hehehe! Kase meron siyang baon na photo frame na picture nila ng girlfriend nya at ang kanyang filler ay puro picture nila ng gf nya..
Markell – Eto na yata ang pinakamakulet sameng lahat.. walang siyang sinasanto kahit si Cabo di niya pinapalampas.. Lahat tinitira nya.. hehehe! Kasabay ko tong maligo tuwing umaga pero sa magkaibang cubicle siyempre.. para makaiwas kame sa traffic sa banyo, dun kame sa kabilang dorm naliligo..
Kevin – Eto ang pinaka malupet sameng lahat pagdating sa chicks! Grabe.. wala akong masabi…basta yun na yun..Siya ang natutulog sa ilalim ko dahil dobol deck ang kama sa kwarto namen..
Ren – Isa din sa makulet.. at excited pumasok tulad ko… Pero tulog mantika rin at angtagal pang maligo.. Etong si Ren ay magaling sa basketball.. Di ko alam na MVP pala to sa barangay nila..
Brylle – Eto ang pinaka magaling samen sa basketball! High flyer ba.. Makulit din eto.. Pero paminsan minsan tahimik lang.. Dahil bigla bigla nalang natutulog. Mabenta ang celphone nito kase sa cel nya madaming.. secret!
Gerald – Ang aking kababayan from San Ildefonso, Bulacan. Etong si Gerald, silent but deadly.. Ang tawag namen sa kanya ay Shaq. Mala Oneal ba naman kung maglaro eh.. tas anlaki pa.. hehehe
Jeff – Si Jeff ang masasabi kong pinakatahimik sameng lahat.. Pero humihirit din naman paminsan minsan.. Kulang pa siguro sa bonding..
Adam – wats up mate! Ang Australian na ka dorm ni Arick.. Di siya masyadong close sa barkada namen pero ka bonding namen siya pag gabi na.. Masarap din tong kasama.. maraming supply eh.. hehehe!
Yan ang aking mga ka dorm.. Masasaya silang lahat kasama! Siyempre dorm boys eh!
Di pa namen masyadong ka close yung mga nasa kabilang dorm kase isolated yung building namen.. pero mababait naman yung mga nandun, lalo na yung mga Senior namen tulad ni Arthur, Bong at Poch.
Sabi nila, mahirap daw maging piloto.. Lalo na pag nagaaral ka sa Airlink.. But you will be fine.. as long as you have the right attitude.. AT dapat marunong kang makisama..

Today is my last day of vacation because tomorrow I will be having my first day of classes.. I am really excited right now.. From the moment I woke up this morning I am already feeling the excitement.. But behind that excitement, there is still a sad feeling.. Studying at Airlink and living at a dorm would mean that I would leave this house. The house where I spent the first 17 years of my life. I will be living now in a new environment. Meeting new people and facing tougher challenges.. All of these are part of my training to be a full pledged pilot. This will be my first time to live somewhere else.. But I will not really miss this house because I will still be here during weekends.
New Cellphone!
I got a very nice gift from my dad.. An independence day gift or an early fathers day gift I should say.. hehehe! (baliktad na ang mundo!) Well, my old cellphone is really old and it needs to retire so my dad thought to buy me a new cellphone because it was already his plan to buy me a new cellphone last year. So finally I got one before the beginning of classes. My cellphone is the Walkman phone W810i from Sony Ericsson. I even got a free Da Vinci Code leather jacket. But the bad thing about having a new cellphone is you dont want to scratch it which I freely do on my old cellphone... I still have the plastic covering on the screen and probably would keep it there for a week or so..
Thats it for now, I need to prepare my things for tomorrow is a BIG day for me.

Laoag Adventure! (continuation)
Day 3
I woke up at around 5:00 in the morning and it was so cold! (grrr…) Grabe yung ginaw, wala pa naman akong kumot. Hindi ko na natitiis kaya lumipat ako dun sa may cottage at ginawa kong kumot yung towel ko. At around 5:30 may gumigising sakin, si John Mark giniginaw din kaya nagyaya siyang magswimming.. Siyempre pumayag naman ako.. Pagkabangon ko.. Diretso kaagad kame sa dagat.. hehehehe! Hindi na kame nag unat.. Ang sarap ng tubig.. maligamgam.. After naming magswimming sandali, nagbreakfast muna tas swimming ulit.. Sinamahan muna namen yung mga girls na manguha ng mga shells sa beach.. After naming manguha ng shells.. Morning devotion na.. Tapos swimming nanaman.. Hay.. parang sobrang sabik kame sa swimming lahat… hehehehe! Masaya yung naging experience namen nung nag arkila si Marikris ng boat.. Dinala kame nung boat sa gitna ng dagat.. dun sa part na maraming corals.. Grabeh.. ang ganda.. wala akong masabi.. mga 15-20 ft. yung lalim ng dagat dun at may malaki kameng achievement ni John Mark dahil naabot namen yung ilalim.. nakakauha pa nga kame ng mga bato bilang remembrance kaso naiwan din namen.. By 12:00 naglunch na kame tapos nagprepare na kame na umalis ng Pagudpud.. hay…. Pagbalik kila Ate Marikris.. Kanya kanyang shower dahil hindi kame nakapag shower sa Pagudpud.. Pagkatapos magshower.. Kanya kanyang tulog dahil pagod lahat.. Tapos nagprepare na kame sa aming paguwi.. Hay.. tapos na vacation namen..
Back at Laoag.. we were there at around 8:30 in the evening.. We bought some pasalubong and then we went to a church were we had our last bonding moment in the churchs parking area.. Grabeh.. Yun na yung last nyt namen.. AT masasabi ko na talagang sobrang saya ng experience ko sa Laoag.. mamimiss ko talaga yun…
